Kalamandalam Leelamma Memorial Cultural Trust

In order to preserve, promote and disseminate the contributions of Leelamma in the field of Mohiniyattam both as a teacher, performer and researcher, her children, Dr. Krishna Priya and Krishna Prasad founded Kalamandalam Leelamma Memorial Cultural Trust in May 2023. As a Hereditary Trust, her daughter, Dr. Krishna Priya is its Managing Trustee and daughter in law, Ramya Sudhakaran, is the Trustee.

Objectives of the Trust

  1. Documentation of the art of Mohiniyattam and its presentation in various venues in order to create an awareness among the youngsters in the field and in the public about the dance-form and its aesthetic values.
  2. Organizing dance-festival every year to highlight the living tradition of Mohiniyattam and for providing opportunities not only to the accomplished dancers but to the promising dancers looking for stage-experience and audience-attention.
  3. Providing financial assistance to dancers and accompanists in indigent circumstances.
  4. Enriching the repertoire of Mohiniyattam through the choreography of new items and ensuring enough platforms for presenting them.
  5. Conducting lecture-demonstrations of Mohiniyattam as part of its promotion, awareness-building and popularization.
  6. Printing and publication of books related to traditional arts and culture.
  7. For imparting knowledge on Kerala’s performing arts and culture, short-term Diploma Courses are conceived. The interested students can have online classes or offline training.
